Im using ps2. the guitar works when i start the game and choose song. but once the song starts I cant do anything.

ok i just got a guitar hero aerosmith game for my playstation 2 and i cant get the guitar to connect with the console. I have the wireless one and it says the red light has to be solid and i cant get it to do that even when i hold the button the wireless thing. someone please help me!!
